Solar Flare Prediction from Time Series Data 2020

A Track in the IEEE Big Data 2020 Big Data Cup Challenge

The competition is organized on the Kaggle platform. The awards are sponsored by Data Mining Lab at Georgia State University.

Authors of the top-ranked solutions (based on the final evaluation scores) will be awarded prizes funded by the sponsor:

  • First Prize: One free IEEE BigData 2020 conference registration,
  • Second Prize: One free IEEE BigData 2020 conference registration,
  • Third Prize: One free IEEE BigData 2020 conference registration.

As a prize for this competition, we will pay for the conference registration fee for the top 3 finalists to attend the IEEE BigData 2020 conference to present their work, and have their accompanying academic paper published in the conference proceedings. The the top 3 finalists will be asked to present their work in the workshop on Solar & Stellar Astronomy Big Data (SABID) as part of a section dedicated to discussing their methods, results, and the need for standard benchmark datasets in the Solar Physics community so that the results obtained by models such these are directly comparable with one another.
